FULLY BOOKED Skep Making Workshop, 11th November

FULLY BOOKED Skep Making Workshop, 11th November

********THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED********

This workshop covers making Beekeeper’s skeps and other coiled baskets. You will learn how to find and prepare materials, how to start, how to introduce new binding material, how to shape the basket or skep and how to finish off. All materials and tools will be provided. We will use wheat straw and rattan cane and locally foraged materials such as dock and bramble. The event is suitable for anyone interested in learning about this simple but sophisticated traditional craft. You may not finish a full-sized skep on the day, but attractive simple open baskets may very well be completed. The workshop will be run by David and Bron Wright. They have kept bees for 20 years and started making skeps five years ago.

Saturday 11th November 2017, 10am – 4pm
