Buildings can be great places for wildlife, as well as people. Working with landowners, land managers, planners and developers we are developing advice on how best to retain or add nest and roost sites for birds and bats in residential, commercial and agricultural buildings. This includes guidance on managing neighbouring areas of habitat for the benefit of these birds and bats. We are also working with timber treatment and pest control companies to raise awareness of the effects of the chemicals they use, and provide guidance on how to minimise the negative effects of these chemicals.
