Celebrate Abernethy’s important ancient story at various events in Abernethy throughout the weekend. There’s something for everyone so what takes your fancy?

Digging for Medieval Abernethy!

24-25th June.  Free

Take part in a community archaeological dig and help uncover Abernethy’s ancient past by trying your hand at excavation. Led by professional archaeologists, anyone can join in at one of our drop-in test pits in the village.

Museum of Abernethy’s Wee Big Dig Weekend!

When: 24-25th June , 10am – 5pm, Museum of Abernethy

Come along to the Museum where you can learn about Abernethy’s history, and see the newly displayed Pictish Stones. The Museum is open all weekend offering events and activities for all the family. You may even meet someone from the middle ages as you explore the village!

Museum of Abernethy’s Afternoon Tea!

Saturday 24th June 2pm – 5pm,  Williamson Hall, Kirk Wynd, Abernethy

As part of the Wee Big Dig weekend come and enjoy delicious sandwiches, scones and homemade cakes along with a tasty cup of tea, while supporting the local museum! Tea will be served from 2-5pm.   (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult).

The Tay Landscape Partnership Area

The Tay Landscape stretches from Newburgh on the south side of the Tay Estuary around to Perth and along the Carse to Dundee.

The project, a £2.6 million initiative is principally funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, will enable locals and visitors to reconnect with the natural, built and cultural heritage of the area.
