Canoe Trail

Canoe-Trail-(c)-Mike-Dales-small

The River Tay was once a major thoroughfare through the landscape, linking places and communities. Over the last 100 years boat traffic has declined and very few people have the opportunity to get out onto it. We are creating a canoe trail that links Perth with Bridge of Earn and Newburgh. Volunteers and professionals are helping us to map and film the route, and gather all the information paddlers need to enjoy a trip on the river. We are also offering guided trips for those with less experience, or who are interested in finding our more about the history and wildlife of the river.

The Tay Landscape Partnership Area

The Tay Landscape stretches from Newburgh on the south side of the Tay Estuary around to Perth and along the Carse to Dundee.

The project, a £2.6 million initiative is principally funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, will enable locals and visitors to reconnect with the natural, built and cultural heritage of the area.
